What is Chiropractic?
A holistic, non-invasive, and specialized health profession that focuses on the spine and its connection to the nervous system.
As defined by the American Chiropractic Association, “Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. Chiropractic services are used most often to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, pain in the joints of the arms or legs, and headaches.”
The purpose of a chiropractic adjustment is to restore joint function by applying pressure and correcting those that have come out of place, all in the effort to support the nervous system. Your central nervous system is made up of the brain and spinal cord, while the peripheral nervous system is comprised of nerves that branch off of the spinal cord and extend to other parts of your body. When any structural problems occur, causing you vertebrae to move out of alignment, this will affect and disrupt the normal functions of your body. Disruptions in the alignment of your spine can lead to numerous complications and discomforts. The job of our chiropractors here at Kalani Total Health Center is to locate these disruptions and fix them through various spinal manipulations, or adjustments, and return you to your level of optimal health.
Regular chiropractic care has been shown to help with headaches and migraines, fatigue, joint pain, energy levels, balance, improved range of motion, immune health, and discomfort caused by pregnancy.
When you visit us here at Kalani Total Health Center, our chiropractor will do a thorough examination to look for subluxations, or the misalignment of your vertebrae. This is done by performing a physical examination, and in most cases x-rays will be taken to look for any abnormalities. When a patient comes to us for help, in most cases there will be some sort of abnormality. Once this abnormality is located, a chiropractic adjustment will be performed to correct and restore spinal alignment. A carefully crafted care plan is then put into motion, and we will begin seeing you regularly to correct the issue at hand.
While chiropractic care is a large focus of our practice, many of our other services compliment the adjustments very nicely. Your chiropractor will often suggest a session with one of our massage therapists, acupuncturist, or even our nutritionist.
